Layered Flower

PSP 8 version

*NOTE*
Sometimes the links for filters change, it's difficult (and a lot of work) to
keep changing them on individual pages, so I have created a page with
links to filters and programs that I have used in my tutorials.
That way it is easier for me, because when there are changes I will
only have one page to update and hopefully better for you, because I'm
less likely to miss a page out when doing the updates :)

Materials :-
There is a text file included in the zip, if you don't know where to place the items.
My sg_trousers.cfg, SBP preset and round jewel tube Here
The SBP pre-set I originally used was Dee's 'Gold Shimmer' which is
no longer available, my sg_gold-sparkle in the zip is similar

some images have been made smaller to shorten file size

Step 1.
open a new image 200 x 150 transparent
flood fill with black and add a new layer
Go to Effects...Plugins...Sinedots...
Open the .cfg and choose the 'trousers preset.
If you are new to sinedots and don't know how to open
the .cfg file click HERE for more information

Some presets use different 'blend' settings and it is
important for this tutorial to make sure that the blend
in the sinedots setting is set to 'screen' like this:-

Step 2.
Go to Layers...Duplicate...then
Image...Flip...
Make sure you are on the top layer then
Layers...Merge...Merge Down

Step 3.
Go to Image...Canvas Size...
and resize the canvas to 400 x 400
In the placement section, choose the
centre left box. Make the background
layer active and flood fill with black.

Step 4.
Make the layer containing your sinedot active.
Go to Layers...Duplicate...then
Image ...Mirror.....
Make sure you are on the top layer then
Layers...Merge...Merge Down

Step 5.
Duplicate the merged layer, and this time
go to Image...Rotate...Free rotate...
and rotate by 90° (any direction)
All Layers=unticked
Rotate single layer around canvas centre=ticked

Make sure you are on the top layer then
Layers...Merge...Merge Down

Step 6.
Go to Adjust...Hue and Saturation...Hue Map...
click on the reset button at the top

this will reset everything to the default settings

Move the slider (circled) upwards right to the top,

the bottom colour box will change to red, and if
you look at the preview window (the right one of
the two windows) you will see that the sinedot
has also changed. Click ok. Here is my screenshot.

Step 7.
Go to Layers...Duplicate...then
go to Image...Rotate...Free rotate...
and rotate by 45° (any direction)
All Layers=unticked
Rotate single layer around canvas centre=ticked

Step 8.
Open the Hue Map again (colours...adjust)
Click the reset button to put the sliders
back to default. This time our sinedot is
red, so the slider we are going to move is
the one for the red colour box (far left)

I changed the sinedot on this layer to yellow
Move the slider downwards until the bottom colour
box changes to yellow.

Step 9.
You can get a slightly different effect if you select
all and float before applying the SBP preset in this
step, but for this tutorial didn't select and float first.

Go to Effects...Plugins...
Flaming Pear...SuperBladePro...
and apply Dee's D_gold shimmer preset
or a preset of your choice

Go to Effects...3D Effects...Drop Shadow...
and apply a drop shadow using these settings

Then repeat the drop shadow, but change the
vertical and horizontal settings to minus 2

Step 10.
Make the layer containing the red sinedot active
and repeat the SuperBladePro and 2 drop shadows
as in step 9. I liked the effect using the same
preset gave to the two different colours, but you
can use a different preset on each if you want to
Make top layer the active one then
Layers...Merge...Merge Down

Step 11.
Go to Layers...Duplicate...then
Image...Resize...make sure that the all
layers box is not ticked, resample
using bicubic and and resize to 85%

Step 12.
Go to Image...Rotate....Free Rotate...
rotate by 45° (any direction), then
Effects...Sharpen...and Sharpen...
The colours now alternate.

Step 13.
Repeat steps 11 and 12. You should now have
three layers, with alternating colours.

Add a new layer and put a tubed jewel in
the centre. You can use one of your own if
you like, or I have made a tube containing
18 in various colours, which is available
at the top of the page.

Step 14.
If you want to change the colour of your
background, make the bottom layer active
and flood fill with the colour of you choice
I left mine black. Merge all layers.

Resize as wanted and finished by adding a
frame. I made a very simple frame like this
Image...Add Borders...add a symmetrical border of 10,
select it with the Magic Wand and apply
SuperBladePro's 'rococo curlicues' preset
(it's in the environments and textures folder).
De-select and you are finished
