Step 1.
If you have any problems downloading the sinedots preset
Some presets use different 'blend' settings and it is
|
|
Step 2. Go to Image...Canvas size... Change the canvas size to 400 x 400 In the placement area choose the centre right box
Make the background layer active and flood fill with

Step 3. Go to Layers...Duplicate... then Image...Mirror... ![]()
Go to Layers...Merge...Merge Down...
Next we are going to make a pelmet, so

Step 4. Open a new Image 100 x 100 transparent. Flood fill with black and add a new layer Go to Effects... Plugins...Sinedots... This time choose the 'cafe net' preset you can view the settings in a new window, by clicking Here
As before make sure that the blend on the sinedots
Go to Image...Rotate...Rotate clockwise 90°

Step 5. Go to Edit...Copy...(ctrl+C) This image is no longer needed. Open the curtains image that you made earlier. Add a new layer then go to Edit...Paste...and Paste as New selection... positioning at co-ordinates 200,0 (you can see these at the bottom left of the screen). ![]()

Step 6. De-select. Duplicate this layer 3 times and use the Mover Tool to reposition the duplicates so that they are side by side across the top ![]()
Turn off the visibility of the background

Step 7. Now we are ready to make the mask. Go to Masks...New Mask Layer...From Image... Choose your curtain image as the source window and create mask from 'source luminance' leave invert mask data unticked
Now go to Layers...Load/Save Mask...Save mask to Disk...
Now that you have your sinedots curtains

Step 8. Open the image that you want to use as the view from your window. Each of the pictures used in this tutorial as the view from my window are from freefoto.com ![]() |

Step 9. Open the window frame that you want to use Go to Edit...Copy... You can close the window frame image With your 'view' image active, go to Selections...Select All...(Ctrl + A) Edit...Paste...Paste into Selection...De-select. ![]()

Step 10. If you want to add some tubed ornaments or something to sit on your window ledge add a new layer place your tubes and when you are happy with the positions Merge All layers. |

Step 11. Add a new layer Flood fill with white or the colour you want your curtains to be. Go to Layers...Load/Save Mask...Load Mask from Disk... Navigate to the folder that you put your curtains mask in, and open the mask.
In the layers palette, right click on Group- Raster 1
