This tutorial assumes that you already know where to find the

Please Note* My tutorials were written for people to learn from, so PLEASE DO NOT SCRIPT THEM.

Step 1. I have stated the colours, texture and blend modes that I used to make my tile, but please feel free to experiment with your own.
Open a new image 300 x 300
On the materials palette click on the foreground materials

Step 2. Go to Layers...New Raster Layer... Flood fill with the spider texture ![]()
Go to Layers...Duplicate...then
|
|
Step 3. In the layer palette, change the blend mode of 'raster 1' to soft light and the blend mode of 'copy of raster 1' to exclusion. Feel free to try the different blend modes on both layers. Go to Layers...Merge...Merge all. ![]()
The tile has quite a nice soft look and if you like

Step 4. Go to Effects...User Defined... Use these Settings. ![]()

Step 5. Go to Effects...Image Effects...Seamless Tiling... Tiling method=corner, Direction=vertical (if you have used different colours or blend modes, you may have to use bidirectional), Vertical offset=0, Transition=8
To make the muted version of the tile, copy and paste as a new
You can resize the tile if you like.
